Both Phoenix Suns and Kevin Durant are in a good place right now after their summer separation following a disastrous 2024-25 season. Several Suns official clarified that the separation has to happen and it was the best for each other.

Suns owner Matt Ishbia said they have to move on from Durant as he does not fit what they aim to do moving forward and that the Big 3 they tried to build was just not a good fit.
The present day is good for both parties but some things remain un-addressed, mostly from KD’s side. The Rockets star made sure to use Monday win over his former team to finally reveal his feelings about his them letting him go.
It was the most perfect scenario as he hit the three to win the game for the Rockets.

He finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds and spoiled the team effort from Suns led by Devin Booker who hit a game high 27 points.
Kevin Durant did not want to go
Turned out, he did not want to leave them.
“I don’t mean to sound too dramatic, but I will,” Durant started.

“To be kicked out of a place — and I felt like I’d been scapegoated for the issues we had as a team last year — yeah, it felt good to beat them and hit a game-winning shot. You play with a bit of a chip on your shoulder when you play your former team, especially when they trade you.”
Durant was let go by the Suns in exchange for Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green. It is biggest trade of the offseason and involved seven teams.
