Reports claimed Russell Westbrook has no interest in playing overseas and he is still pursuing an NBA stint. This is despite the offer that is reportedly four times bigger than what he could get in the American league. Sacramento Kings were the last team linked to the 2017 MVP.

This summer saw icons reuniting with former teams – Damian Lillard with the Portland Trailblazers, Chris Paul with the Los Angeles Clippers. The Oklahoma City Thunder might have a room there for Brodie who was their star for 11 seasons?
NBA great Carmelo Anthony does not think this should happen. He thinks Thunder, who won the 2025 title, is too intact and Westbrook might not get a playing time.
“No, he can’t help them. They’re the champs,” Anthony said.

“You cannot bring Russell Westbrook back to OKC and don’t play him. He cannot go from the greatest player in your franchise history to maybe playing or maybe not playing. It doesn’t work. You diminish that man’s legacy by that.”

Russell Westbrook’s legacy must be protected
Former and current NBA players have spoken out about how baffled they are that Westbrook is still without a team with a few weeks to go before the opening season. They think he is being disrespected.
Anthony, who played one season with OKC, does not think that way exactly but he is calling on the league and teams to be more respectful to the legends who made the league.

“Let’s protect the legacies of these players. Not somebody who’s been in the league five years, six years,” he continued.
“No. This is somebody who’s put in pain, pressure, number one jersey sales. MVP of the league.”
Latest on Westbrook says Kings have the best odds of landing him. Shams Charania reported that there is mutual interest between the two camps.
“I’m told there is strong mutual interest between Russell Westbrook and the Sacramento Kings,” Charania said on NBA Today. “And the Kings have a need for a reserve point guard.”
“Russell Westbrook helps with that, and he’s got relationships across that organization. Domantas Sabonis, he’s close with, played with him. He played with Dennis Schroeder as well, DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine.
