In a recent episode of “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu had the chance to be one of the guests, and also happened to guest on the same episode as comedian Adam Sandler.

Sandler was promoting his new movie, “Happy Gilmore 2.” Backstage, Ionescu gave Sandler a pair of the new Nike Sabrina 3s, which, back then, had not yet been released for sale. Sandler, in turn, wore the pair in his segment.

Nearly three decades after the original cult classic, Adam Sandler returns to the green in “Happy Gilmore 2,” now streaming on Netflix. Directed by Kyle Newacheck and co-written by Sandler and Tim Herlihy, the sequel followed a retired Happy Gilmore—now a widowed father of five—who reenters the golf world to pay for his daughter Vienna’s elite ballet school.

Sunny Sandler, Adam’s real-life daughter, played Vienna, while Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald reprised their roles as Virginia and Shooter McGavin. The film has been packed with celebrity cameos, including Bad Bunny, Travis Kelce, Rory McIlroy, and Eminem, whose bizarre role as a heckler’s son ends in a fatal alligator attack.

Sabrina Ionescu Reiterates Interest in Bringing 4-Point Line to WNBA

In a recent interview, Sabrina Ionescu once again expressed interest in bringing the 4-point line rule to the WNBA.

“I’m always all for it,” Ionesuc said, in an interview courtesy of NBC Sports. “I’ve said that from the beginning, if that was to be a rule change, I would love for that to happen. I just think everyone’s shooting so well from the three-point line, and I feel like we could continue to add different elements that would change the game of basketball. So, I mean, personally, I would love it, but I’m fine with where it’s at right now as well.”

On her recent trip to the Philippines, part of her Nike-sponsored Asia trip, WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu made headlines for her enthusiastic embrace of the Philippine Basketball Association’s (PBA) new four-point line.

During her time there, Ionescu participated in exhibition games and clinics, and made a bunch of long-range shots from the 27-foot arc, even exciting fans at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao. The PBA, the first-ever professional 5-on-5 league to introduce the rule, specifically implemented a four-point line in 2024 to create excitement, while adding a tactical layer to the game.

Ionescu, known for her elite shooting skills, expressed genuine interest in the concept, saying, “I think we need to bring that to the WNBA. That’s exciting.” She praised the rule for pushing players to improve and evolve, noting that modern basketball already trends toward deeper shooting and faster pace.
