Sacramento Kings fall to the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday after getting outscored in the second half, no thanks to an explosion by Austin Reaves who finished with career high 51 points. The Lakers guard is the major headline in that game but DeMar Derozan the free throw disparity should also be given a look.

Lakers were awarded 46 foul line attempts and the converted 41 of them. Reaves own 22 of those. That is four more than what the Kings received and Derozan thinks it is a problem.
“It’s crazy. 46 free throws to 18? And we had to beg for most of those,” DeRozan told reporters after the game.
“It’s deflating. Especially when we’re going out there trying to play hard, trying to compete.”
The Kings lost to Lakers who were without their top two scorers in Lebron James and Luka Doncic. Derozan and company failed to capitalize on it as they did not have an answer to Reaves. DeAndre Ayton also played his best game so far with his 22 points and 15 rebounds.

DeMar’s press conference was about the free throw disparity:
“It’s crazy. 46 free throws to our 18? It seem like we getting called for fouls but on the other end when we try to be aggressive nothing go our way. It’s kinda deflating at times. 22 free throws for (Austin)? Free… pic.twitter.com/do8MFqemQR

DeMar Derozan frustrated by officiating
Derozan directed his frustration to the officiating. He stayed on the topic of 46 free throws to the Lakers and thought
“It seemed like we’re getting called for fouls, but on the other end when we try to be aggressive, nothing goes our way. It’s kind of deflating at times, especially when you’re trying to get it going… 46 free throws is crazy. It’s crazy.”
Lakers’ FT total is not a strange thing to happen.

Sports Illustrated’s Logan Struck wrote:
DeRozan said he has never been in a game like that through his 17-year NBA career. Los Angeles’ 46 free-throw attempts on Sunday night are the tenth most by a team in the last three seasons, while Reaves’ 22 are the sixth most by a player in that same time frame.
The Kings will return to court on Tuesday when they visit defending champions Oklahoma City Thunder.
