The Sacramento Kings don’t have a true point guard on their roster after they traded De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs last February to acquire Zach LaVine, so they’re looking at reinforcements for the position this summer.

According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Sacramento Kings are keen to sign Tyus Jones, who will be an unrestricted free agent after playing for the Phoenix Suns this season.

“Sacramento is expected to explore the trade and free agent market for point guard help, league sources told HoopsHype. Among several point guards on Sacramento’s radar is unrestricted free agent Tyus Jones, HoopsHype has learned,” Scotto reported in his column.

“Over the past two seasons with the Wizards and Suns predominantly as a starter in 124 of 147 games, Jones has shot 46.8 percent from the field overall and 41.4 percent from beyond the arc while averaging 6.2 assists and only 1.1 turnovers per game,” he added.

Sacramento Kings Rumors: Rival execs to monitor star trio in potential trade talks

In the same HoopsHype report, Michael Scotto also stated that the Sacramento Kings could explore potential trades involving Domantas Sabonis, DeMar DeRozan, and Zach LaVine either this offseason or before the trade deadline next February.

Sacramento endured a rollercoaster campaign in 2024-25, as they replaced Mike Brown with Doug Christie after a slow start. The team eventually finished with a 40-42 record but lost to the 10th-seeded Dallas Mavericks in the play-in tournament.

After missing out on the postseason, the Sacramento Kings also parted ways with general manager Monte McNair and hired Scott Perry as his replacement.
