The Sacramento Kings finally got to “Light The Beam” for the first time this season, following their 111-98 Monday night win against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Kings had a rough start to the season, losing their first two games. However, thanks to the teamwork of their Big 3, Sacramento has gradually picked up its momentum.

The All-Star trio of De’Aaron Fox, DeMar DeRozan and Domantas Sabonis played well against the Blazers. DeRozan scored 23 points, recording his third-straight 20-point game of the season. Fox also reached the 20-point threshold with 24 points, six rebounds and three assists.  Sabonis, meanwhile, had a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds.

The star point guard also reached an outstanding feat tonight. Fox surpassed 10,000 points during the third quarter after he knocked down a 3-pointer.

Head coach Mike Brown discussed how he controlled the star’s minutes after the Kings’ victory. Sacramento came off a 131-127 loss against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday. The team’s Big 3 spent serious time on the floor, especially Fox, who played 41 minutes.

In their win against the Blazers, the stars played a reasonable amount of time on the floor.

“I’m going to give myself a pat on the back because I’ve been killing our guys,” Brown said. “To get these guys at a decent number of minutes in tonight’s game is very pleasing. Hopefully we can continue trying to find ways to keep those guys in that range that we talked about before the game.”

The Kings will play against the Utah Jazz tomorrow, to start their four-game road trip.

Fox talked about sharing a historic moment with the Sacramento Kings

Fox is one of the few players who have stayed with the team that drafted them. The Sacramento Kings have remained loyal to the All-Star since they used their fifth pick in 2017 to draft the shifty point guard.

The 2024-25 season is the eighth campaign for the former Kentucky Wildcat star. Over the years, he’s made history with the team, as he’s one of the reasons the franchise broke their postseason drought in 2023. This time, he moved up the Kings’ record books after scoring over 10,000 points.

During his postgame interview, Fox appreciated sharing the historic moment with the organization.

“Honestly, I forgot that I was actually close,” Fox said. “But to do it at home, and obviously to do it in a win, makes it even that much more special. Not a lot of people get to do that… Being able to be blessed being in the league that long and being able to put the ball in the basket that many times is definitely a blessing.”
