Days after losing to the New York Knicks in the 2025 NBA Cup final, the San Antonio Spurs returned to winning ways by securing a 119-94 blowout home victory against the Washington Wizards on Thursday evening.
Dylan Harper paced the team with 24 points, five rebounds, and three assists on an efficient 9-for-13 shooting from the field in 23 minutes off the bench. After the game, the San Antonio Spurs rookie sent a strong message to the rest of the league.
“You got to pick your poison. You’re either going to let us play one-on-one at the rim, or you’re going to help, and you’re going to let us kick out and get three,” Harper said via Jeff Garcia of KENS5.
“I think when we had days we didn’t shoot the ball so great, but we shot the ball good enough where we can get over the hump, and I think that’s what we did today,” he continued.

San Antonio Spurs News: Victor Wembanyama still on a minutes restriction, per coach
Victor Wembanyama came off the bench for the third consecutive game last night, and the San Antonio Spurs star contributed 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and four blocks on 6-for-11 shooting from the field in 17 minutes of action.
“We’ve got to get through tonight first, and that will have all of our attention, but in terms of his minutes, we’ll be mindful of that,” head coach Mitch Johnson said of Wembanyama before the Washington Wizards match via Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News.
The San Antonio Spurs improved to 19-7 and will visit the Atlanta Hawks on Friday evening. Luke Kornet will likely start in Wembanyama’s place for the fourth straight time.
