The San Antonio Spurs will miss the NBA playoffs for the sixth straight season after finishing with a 36-46 record this year. However, the team has a bright future, as they have building blocks in Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox.

San Antonio would’ve made it to the play-in tournament (or even the playoffs) if Wembanyama stayed healthy throughout the 2024-25 campaign. The Frenchman was ruled out for the rest of the season last February due to a deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder.
Wembanyama finished his sophomore year averaging 24.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.1 steals, and 3.8 blocks on 47.6 percent shooting from the field across 46 starts.

The 21-year-old was such a force on both ends of the floor, particularly on the defensive end, so much so that he became the NBA’s official blocks leader by a mile with 176 blocks – 28 more than runner-up Brook Lopez.
San Antonio Spurs News: Victor Wembanyama opens up on his blood clot recovery
After seeing his sophomore season cut short, Victor Wembanyama is determined to work his way back to full fitness for the San Antonio Spurs next season.

“I’m able to do hard work, hard lifting, and also basketball work,” Wembanyama said in a press conference via Don Harris on X (formerly known as Twitter). “It’s all very controlled and light. Sometimes, I feel like I would like to do more. It’s logical, a medical direction. We’re taking our time. I’m neither late nor early. It’s a process. There are definitely steps to reach that.”
“From my visits to the hospital and such, I think I got as good (of) care as you can get as a patient. So, looking back, I’m really lucky … But, all of us in that (locker) room, all of us in the league, we do with what we get, we do with what we are blessed with. And I’m still in the 1 percent luckiest people, so I’ve got nothing to complain about, and it is a really slight setback,” he added.
