Phoenix Mercury’s new star Satou Sabally had the opportunity to make the most out of her stay in Florida by visiting the Miami Open, where she got to encounter tennis star Frances Tiafoe, who she shared a photo with.

In a post on Instagram that she shared on her story, Satou Sbally posed with Frances Tiafoe in what seemed to be a moment of laughter and fun.

“My Brotha 🎾🎾 always geeking,” she wrote, tagging Tiafoe.

Frances Tiafoe had a notable performance at the 2025 Miami Open, marking his 100th ATP Masters 1000 match with a significant victory. He defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 7-5, 7-6 (5), earning his 50th win at this prestigious level.

Satou Sabally joined the Phoenix Mercury through a blockbuster four-team trade during the 2025 WNBA offseason. After spending five seasons with the Dallas Wings, Sabally requested a trade, expressing her desire to play for a franchise with strong organizational infrastructure and resources. The Mercury, known for their commitment to player development and their state-of-the-art $100 million practice facility, became her new home.

The trade involved multiple teams and players, with Sabally being one of the key acquisitions for the Mercury. Alongside her, the Mercury also acquired Alyssa Thomas from the Connecticut Sun, forming a new “Big 3” with Kahleah Copper.

Sabally’s arrival is expected to bring versatility and star power to the Mercury’s roster. Known for her scoring ability and playmaking skills, she averaged 17.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 5 assists per game last season despite dealing with a shoulder injury. Her addition strengthens the Mercury’s championship aspirations as they aim to compete with other star-studded teams in the league.

Satou Sabally Blocked Angel Reese’s Teammate Recruitment Attempt

Following the victory of Rose BC in Unrivaled, Kaelah Cooper posted on Instagram a photo of herself with the Unrivaled trophy, celebrating the win.

“Against all Odds..🌹 #JustAKidFromNorFPhilly” Copper posted.

“We can win another one in Chicago if you trynna run this back again💔 I’m just saying,” Reese commented.

Cooper used to play for the Chicago Sky but never got to be teammates with Reese, who only arrived during the 2024 season.

Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell (0) rushes up the court against Dallas Wings forward Satou Sabally (0) on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024, during the game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Indiana Fever defeated the Dallas Wings, 110-109.

However, Cooper’s Mercury teammate, Satou Sabally, was quick to block any recruitment attempts within the same comment section.

    “No she’s fine,” Sabally replied.

Satou Sabally herself participated in Unrivaled, under the Phantom BC. Despite her team’s collective effort, the Phantom BC struggled during the inaugural season and failed to make the playoffs.
