Victor Wembanyama has shown consistently this pre-season that he is ready to take things to the next level as the NBA’s future superstars. The San Antonio Spurs star played in all four pre-season joust for his team and fans got to see the out-of-this-world stuff only him is capable of doing as well as the major improvements he achieved over the summer.

One play that got many NBA fans curious, and also scared, is when he channeled his footwork in win against the Indiana Pacers.

In case you missed it, Wemby spent his time in different parts of the world to hone his body and mental focus. One of those he worked with was two-time NBA champion Hakeem Olajuwon.
Wembanyama is 7’4 but the teaching he got from the Rockets legend is for a ‘big guard’.
“He basically wanted to know how to leverage. Let’s leverage any opportunities you have, inside, outside, with opportunities in different situations without wasting energy,” Olajuwon said in an interview with ESPN’s Michael C. Wright early this month. “I know how skilled he is. So, our concept was not for ‘big men.’ Our concept was ‘big guards.’

“You don’t want to dribble like a big man. We are big guards where you can play 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 with the freedom to create outside, inside, crossover and pull up without wasting any energy with any player because you have the advantage every night on everybody.”

Victor Wembanyama acquired Hakeem Olajuwon skills
The 2024 Rookie of the Year went on a quest to become a complete player and people are seeing it now. Last week, he showed his improved physical strength, with some comparing him to Giannis Antetokounmpo for the way he uses his shoulders in the post.
Now, people are seeing the Hakeem teachings. The MVP award could be right in the corner.
If Wemby develops a sky hook á la Kareem in his prime, it just might be over for the league for a while. This is horrifying.
The man is 7’6 doing this like he’s a 6’9 wing! Health and happiness, young fella! What a treat this is to witness! pic.twitter.com/21ojdXzQXb
