Steve Kerr didn’t hold back while discussing a serious federal topic that had no connection with basketball.

The Warriors’ head coach is no stranger to showing his outspoken personality when wrong happens via country politics. Right now, US citizens are in rage mode against Donald Trump, especially against his ICE group, because one of their agents recently killed an innocent citizen named Renee Nicole Good due to suspicion.
Before the Golden State Warriors game against the Sacramento Kings, Kerr used his pregame presser to blast law enforcement and the Trump administration for that most embarrassing incident.

The nine-time NBA champion has never shied away from political topics, especially those involving gun violence. His father Malcolm was assassinated in Beirut in 1984, giving him a deeply personal connection related to these issues.
“It’s shameful, really, that in our country we can have law enforcement officers who commit murder and seemingly get away with it,” Kerr told
“It’s shameful that the government can come out and lie about what happened when there’s video and witnesses who have all come out and disputed what the government is saying.”

reporters.
“It’s shameful that the government can come out and lie about what happened when there’s video and witnesses who have all come out and disputed what the government is saying”, he added.
“Very demoralizing, devastating to lose anyone’s life, especially in that manner,” Kerr continued. “So it’s terrible, terribly sad for her family, and for her, and that city, and I’m glad the Timberwolves came out and expressed that sadness.”
Video footage shows ICE agents approaching Good’s vehicle, which was partially blocking a traffic lane on Portland Avenue. Bystander videos showed officers surrounding the vehicle and attempting to open the driver’s side door, then an officer shooting Good as she began to drive forward.
Federal authorities claimed the agent acted in self-defense, stating Good ran over the officer. President Donald Trump backed ICE’s version of events, calling Good “very disorderly” and saying she “violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer.”
But Good was just an ordinary citizen, who was a 37-year-old poet and mother of three. The Minnesota Timberwolves held a moment of silence for Good before Thursday’s home game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Kerr praised that arrangement but went all out against the law enforcement.
Kerr has been one of the NBA’s most vocal coaches on social and political issues throughout his tenure with Golden State. Last year, he wore a Harvard basketball shirt to protest Trump’s funding freeze for the school. He also spoke at the 2024 Democratic National Convention, where he urged voters to tell Trump “night night.”
