Shannon Sharpe had a few things to get off his chest on the latest episode of Nightcap.

While chatting with Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson and Joe Johnson on Saturday, Sharpe brought up something that’s been making waves: Shaquille O’Neal’s six-week prediction on Klay Thompson’s relationship with Megan Thee Stallion.
“Why Shaq acting like this?” Sharpe asked with a laugh. “I’m happy for him [Klay Thompson].” (6:00)
The rest of the panel saw it as just Shaq being Shaq—giving his two cents on Klay’s love life. But Sharpe wasn’t feeling it. He pointed out how tough it is nowadays for high-profile couples to keep anything under wraps, especially with social media always watching. Back in his NFL days, he said, things were different—you could date someone famous and not have it plastered all over the internet.

Shaq originally dropped his six-week prediction on the July 18 episode of The Big Podcast, where he made a friendly wager with none other than Mike Tyson, who was a guest that day.
“Deserve is a very very tricky word”: Shannon Sharpe gives his two cents on Shaq’s controversial comments on Rudy Gobert
Shaq has never hidden how he feels about Rudy Gobert—and last Thursday, he doubled down.
On The Big Podcast, Shaq said Gobert didn’t “deserve” the massive contract he’s on. That didn’t sit right with Sharpe, who addressed it during Nightcap on Saturday.
“Shaq, let it go,” he said. “Here’s the problem that you run into—deserve. Deserve is a very, very tricky word. Sometimes we get God’s grace and mercy when we don’t deserve it.”

Sharpe went on to say Gobert has earned his payday, even if folks don’t agree with the numbers. “I look at it like this—Rudy’s earned the money based on what they pay… He’s earned $100 million, $200 million, whatever they pay him.” (2:27)
Gobert is currently in the middle of a three-year, $109.5 million contract. He’s a three-time All-Star and four-time Defensive Player of the Year.
