Sophie Cunningham’s season ended earlier than she planned after tearing her MCL, but the Indiana Fever guard hasn’t drifted away from the game. Instead, she’s become a loud supporter, both of her team and the WNBA overall—even if she doesn’t always hold back from calling out the league’s officials.
Earlier this week, Sophie Cunningham popped up on Instagram, dropping fire emojis under a photo of San Francisco 49ers stars Kyle Juszczyk, George Kittle, and Ricky Pearsall. The trio, joined by their partners, were all decked out in Golden State Valkyries gear. Cunningham clearly loved the cross-sport show of support.
That said, her mood may have been dampened by what happened on the court. Indiana dropped a tough 75–63 game to the Valkyries, a loss that stings given how tight the playoff chase has become. The Fever shot just 33.3% overall and a rough 20% from deep, while Golden State lit it up at 63.2% from beyond the arc. The result bumped the Valkyries ahead of Indiana in the standings, lining the Fever up for a possible clash with the Minnesota Lynx.

“Is it always this stressful being a fan?”: Sophie Cunningham Riding the Fever Rollercoaster
With her knee keeping her out, Sophie Cunningham’s watching like the rest of us. And honestly? She’s feeling what fans feel.

“is it always this stressful being a fan? I can’t take it… can’t sit still,” she tweeted last Thursday.
Luckily, that night had a happy ending. The Fever edged the Sparks 76–75. Stress flipped into relief.
So now, instead of draining threes, Cunningham’s living the fan life—riding every high and low, stuck on the same rollercoaster as everyone in Indiana.
