Sophie Cunningham isn’t playing right now, but she’s still finding ways to keep fans talking.
Earlier this week, she dropped a throwback from a Phoenix shoot with @yatesbuickgmc. Posing in front of a black GMC, she went full western—cowboy hat, boots, black lingerie under a leather jacket. The caption? “Back when my knee was healthy.”

The post blew up. Fans had plenty to say, but it was her teammates who really stole the comments. Caitlin Clark joked, “Jeez Sophie. Can’t like this.” Sydney Colson followed with, “Girl u barely showin the knee.”
That knee is the whole story right now. Sophie Cunningham tore her right MCL against the Connecticut Sun on August 17, leaving Indiana without another key piece. She’s the third Fever guard done for the season, joining Colson and Aari McDonald on the injury list.

Her loss stings. Before going down, she’d played 13 games, hit shots from outside, and handled her defensive assignments. Not flashy, but steady—and steady matters when a team’s fighting for a playoff spot.
“Wrong spot at the wrong time”: Cunningham opens up about Bria Hartley after season-ending knee injury
Sophie Cunningham’s injury came from a collision with Bria Hartley. Some fans, even her mom, thought Hartley went after her on purpose. Cunningham pushed back hard on that idea.

“There was no ill intent. I think it was a basketball play. I was just in the wrong spot at the wrong time; she fell,” she explained on her Show Me Something podcast. “There’s no way she would go in there and intentionally try to hurt me.”
She kept going: “I have nothing but love for Bria, and I even told my mom, because she tweeted something, I was like, ‘No, mom! I get it, but I promise you that Bria and I are super cool and she would never try to hurt me.'”
Cunningham may be sidelined, but between her podcast, her social media, and her style, she’s still part of the conversation.
