If Sophie Cunningham could make one wild wish happen, it’d probably be the same thing Angel Reese just pulled off.
After watching Reese’s big moment at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show last week, the Indiana Fever guard said it hit her — that’s been her dream since she was a kid. She opened up about it on her Show Me Something podcast and even joked that she immediately texted her agents.

“Angel walked in it, and she killed it. Like, absolutely killed it,” Cunningham said. “[Start from 21:40]. And I, oh my god, I texted my agents right away, and I was like, ‘Please’. This has been a dream of mine since like second grade. I have always wanted to be a Victoria’s Secret angel. Like, oh, god.”
She went on, “I think it would be so fun to walk in that fashion show. But Angel really did kill it. She looked stunning, she looked beautiful.”
Reese’s walk on October 15 wasn’t just about the glitz either. She became the first professional athlete ever named an official Victoria’s Secret Angel — a huge deal for her and, honestly, a proud moment for WNBA fans too.
Cunningham’s still focused on getting healthy after an MCL injury that sidelined her before the Fever’s playoff push. But she’s keeping that childhood dream close. If all goes well, she might get her shot at those famous wings someday.
“You’ve Got to Protect Your Locker Room”: Sophie Cunningham on Angel Reese’s Comments
Even with all that praise for Reese, Cunningham hasn’t held back when it comes to accountability. On a September 9 episode of her podcast, she reacted to Reese’s Chicago Tribune comments about the Chicago Sky, which stirred up a bit of controversy.

“No. That’s not great,” Cunningham said. “[start from 31:00]. And like, I get it. When you’re losing, and it has been a frustrating season, everyone is feeling those emotions. And when I say everyone, it’s not just her… literally everyone feels that. There’s just some things that you can’t say.
“And I think one of my biggest things is, I’m a very team-first person,” she continued. “I always put the team before my feelings, and I feel like that should be a standard. And so, you’ve got to protect your locker room.”
Reese later apologized for her remarks, but the noise lingered. Still, Sky GM Jeff Paglioca said he believes the “Chi-Town Barbie” will stay put in Chicago next season.
