The Indiana Fever ended up with almost as many players in the training room as on the floor. Sophie Cunningham, Caitlin Clark, Sydney Colson, Aari McDonald, and Chloe Bibby all went down for the year. Brutal.
But instead of just sitting around feeling sorry for themselves, they turned it into a laugh. The “injured five” posed for a photo that the team dropped online — and it blew up right away.
Turns out, the mastermind was Cunningham. On her Show Me Something podcast, she admitted she wouldn’t let the others leave until they got the shot.

“Dude, it was hilarious,” Cunningham said. “They all hated me because they were all walking. I was like, ‘guys we have to get a pic, we’re gonna want this.’ And so I made them all come back and then we took it and like it was cute.”
It wasn’t just about the picture. For her, it was about owning what happened this year.
“My thing is like, this is a crazy season, and it did happen. So, we should just embrace where we’re at. Like this sh*t sucks, and it is fun in a sick way, and so like live it up a little bit. Who cares?”
The lineup? Cunningham and Colson on crutches, McDonald stuck on a stationary bike thanks to a busted foot, Clark and Bibby standing beside them while rehabbing their own injuries. Not exactly the team photo anyone planned — but a memory all the same.
And here’s the kicker: even with half their core in street clothes, the Fever clawed to a 24-20 finish and snagged the seventh playoff seed.
“See You Soon”: Sophie Cunningham Prepares for Missouri Hall of Fame Induction
Sophie Cunningham’s season is over, but she’s got one more big moment waiting. Friday, she’s heading back to the University of Missouri — this time to be inducted into the school’s athletics hall of fame.

The Tigers’ women’s basketball page posted about it, and Cunningham dropped a simple reply that said it all:
“see you soon :),” she wrote.
Her college résumé speaks for itself. Four years scoring at least 14 a night, wrapping up with career marks of 17.0 points, 5.4 boards, 3 assists, and a steal per game. Add in 50% shooting overall and 40% from three, and it’s no wonder Mizzou is giving her a permanent spot in the hall.
