WNBA star Sophie Cunningham may be eyeing a new stage — the WWE ring. In an interview with Bryanna Sompayrac, the Indiana Fever guard revealed her dream matchup would be against Nikki Bella, sparking an online exchange that had fans buzzing.
“I haven’t even watched it (WWE) in so long,” Cunningham said. “The Bella Twins. I think it would be fun to either partner with them or like go against them, that’s what I would choose.”
Bella didn’t let the comment slide. “Bring it on @sophie_cham,” she wrote. Cunningham reposted the story with a laugh: “Hahahah Oh Hell Yeah.” Nikki later doubled down in the comments: “I’ll take her on one on one.”
Although Cunningham didn’t call out Bella directly, Nikki is the only Bella Twin still active, with Brie stepping away from the ring in 2022.

Nikki herself returned at the Royal Rumble in February, entering at number 30, eliminating Bayley, and then being tossed by Nia Jax. Since then, she’s appeared on RAW and recently turned heel after attacking Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer.
“Maybe After I Retire”: Sophie Cunningham hints on possible move to the WWE
Cunningham also paid tribute to John Cena following his retirement on December 13, hinting at her own possible WWE move.
“I grew up on that s*it WWE baby,” she said. “Me and Lindsay and I used to wrestle all the time, and our parents would have to call it.”
She added, “John Cena was just the absolute best, man. They’ve actually asked me to do it. Maybe after I retire or in the offseason, maybe two will be the new WWE duo. I’d wrestle.”

With NBA stars like Shaquille O’Neal and Dennis Rodman having crossed into pro wrestling before, Cunningham could be the one to open the door for WNBA players.
Whether it’s a playful offseason cameo or a serious post‑career move, fans are already imagining the spectacle.
