Sophie Cunningham didn’t expect her guest spot on the “Show Me Something” podcast to turn into a full confession about her long, chaotic history with golf. But once she got going, she laid it all out the way only Sophie Cunningham can—honest, messy, and absolutely hilarious.
She shared how she once stepped onto the Golf Channel set thinking she’d give the sport another try after ten years.

She already knew it would end badly, saying, “I got to swing a golf club on the golf channel and I nailed an old man.” She added that she warned the people around her, because the last time she swung a club, things didn’t go well either.
As she explained, “I was like ‘Alright, I haven’t swung a golf club in 10 years, I just had knee surgery, like this is gonna go bad’. The last time I swung a club, I killed a f***** squirrel out on a tree… so, little PTSD there.”*
The moment she mentioned “back up,” everyone should’ve listened. But no—the ball still went flying and nailed an old man. Classic Sophie Cunningham energy. You can almost imagine Phoenix Mercury and Indiana Fever fans doing a facepalm.
Whether she’s draining corner shots or accidentally turning golf balls into projectiles, Sophie Cunningham keeps delivering stories that feel too wild to be real. But she owned every detail, and now fans have one more unforgettable reason to keep an eye on her off-court adventures.
Sophie Cunningham Says Caitlin Clark’s Golf Skills Are No Joke
Sophie Cunningham didn’t just talk about her own golf chaos—she also gave a surprising shoutout to Caitlin Clark. And when Sophie Cunningham gives praise, you know she means it.
While recalling the same Golf Channel day that ended with an unfortunate old man getting smacked, she was asked about Clark’s golf game.

Her reaction said it all. “Yes, she’s good,”
Sophie Cunningham said. “She’s like really good. She can really hit it, but I think those greens were really fast and everyone was struggling… but she’s really good. Like my getaway is the pool and the beach, hers is golf.”
Coming from Sophie Cunningham, that’s basically a certificate of excellence. Sophie steps on a golf course and ends up adding to her list of “accidental wildlife and civilian casualties.” Clark steps on one and looks like she’s been training with LPGA friends on the weekend.
Whether it’s Sophie Cunningham telling chaotic golf stories or talking up another player’s talent, she always brings personality, honesty, and timing that’s just on point.
