Sophie Cunningham is one of those players you notice right away. Loud game, loud energy, and at 6-foot-1, she’s impossible to miss.
But here’s the thing — even with all that, she’ll tell you confidence didn’t just show up overnight. She’s now built a rep as one of the W’s tunnel queens, serving looks almost as often as she’s hitting shots.

For her, it’s not just about the flash. On the debut of Beyond Basketball with Sophie Cunningham, she opened up about growing up tall and strong in a world that didn’t always celebrate it.
“It’s not easy being like 6’1″ 160lbs girl. Like, let’s be honest, my shoulders are wide, I look like a brick,” Cunningham said. “But you know what, I embrace that and I think that’s super cool for other athletes to come in here, young boys and girls to see like whoever you are, just be confident in that, because that’s gonna be your biggest superpower one day.”
As for her style? No strict game plan. “For me, like, I like to express myself being girly, being super feminine, and, like, dressing up,” she said. “So, I like to, you know, show little leg, show a little bit of skin, sometimes little baggy with an oversized shirt. So, I really wake up, see how I feel, and then go from there.” She gave credit to her mom and aunt for shaping her sense of fashion.

Cunningham brings the look, then the buckets despite the loss to the Wings
Tuesday night wasn’t smooth sailing before tip-off for Sophie Cunningham as her car broke down just outside Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
However, she still made her walk in — heels on, smile intact, with only a couple of photographers there to catch it.
Then came the game. She dropped 14 points with two boards and three assists. The Fever fell to Dallas by a single point, but Cunningham still managed to bring the look and back it up with buckets.
