Talk of the week says that Sophie Cunningham has been on the path of unwinding following the conclusion of the 2025 WNBA Season. After the hustle and bustle in Indiana with the Fever, she finds herself back home. Back to where the peace and quiet stayed.

We know this because she posted on social media a clip of her just making her way through this dusty road. The caption read,
“mom & dads road <3,”
and it perfectly summed up the calm of the moment.
It’s been quite a journey for her this year, showing some promise with her level of playing and cohesion with the Fever crew. But that injury has certainly drawn a number on her and has put her on the sidelines. Sophie Cunningham is slated for a 2026 season return.
Last week, Sophie already locked up her baller shoes and had tuned out of the WNBA, admitting that she’s not been paying attention to their progress by the time the rest of the ladies representing Indiana were done.
But we can’t blame her, of course. Recovery and healing are just as stressful as adding to your tally and doing your part, mostly because you cannot do your part at all.
It’s no secret that the Missouri native is deeply rooted in her family and faith. And this step off could be exactly what the doctor ordered. Time to take it all in and fill yourself up with what makes you, you.

2026 is Sophie Cunningham’s next exit. But she’s taking the scenic route to be in touch with what makes her Sophie Cunningham.
Sophie Cunningham Opens Up About Her Recovery And Lack Of Patience
In a recent episode of the Show Me Something podcast, Sophie Cunningham gave a candid look at her personality and her recovery process after injury. She admitted that patience isn’t exactly her strong suit.
“I’m not the most patient person. I do pray for patience, but I kind of let myself out of that cast without a doctor’s order,” Sophie Cunningham said around the 28:07 mark. “I had my check-up and they’re like, ‘You’re progressing really well and you look awesome.’ I said, ‘Say less.’”

Her recovery, like her career, has been about pushing limits while learning to trust the process. And as Sophie Cunningham continues to heal and prepare for what’s next, her openness proves that growth isn’t just physical — it’s about mindset too.
