Dawn Staley’s Beautiful Parade Message After South Carolina Gamecocks’ Title Win

After a dominant run that led to a title, the South Carolina Gamecocks are on a high, especially when they celebrated their parade. During that event, head coach Dawn Staley dropped a beautiful message that will hype up the program’s fans.

Over the course of 36 games last season, Staley steered the Gamecocks to an undefeated streak. While the suspension of center Kamilla Cardoso marred the team’s first foray into the NCAA Tournament, they never looked back and steamrolled their opponents on their way to the title.

Their final game of the tournament, the championship match against Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes, proved to be the pinnacle of South Carolina’s success this season. In that 87-75 win, Tessa Johnson came up big from the bench by posting 19 points on 63 percent shooting from the field and 80 percent from deep. Cardoso had a massive game as well by dropping 15 points and 17 rebounds.

Despite facing Clark, the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer, the Gamecocks came out on top and won the title this year. And even though Cardoso has declared for the WNBA Draft, there’s reason to believe that the remaining players will still be a threat when the next season comes along.

After the Gamecocks won this year’s NCAA Tournament, a parade was held in their honor. As seen in a pair of videos posted by Matt Vereen on X, head coach Dawn Staley and returning senior Te-Hina Paopao gave a message that will definitely hype their fans up.

“God sometimes says: ‘I can show you better than I can tell you'”

During the last season, the Gamecocks boasted a third-ranked offense that decimated their opponents. And although their defense was only ranked 23rd, South Carolina still found a way to win, especially against contenders like Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes.

With Staley returning to coach the team next season, there’s a good chance the Gamecocks will put up a good fight to defend their title. In any case, a lot of eyes will be on them to see if they succeed.
