Jaylen Brown had some issues with Cooper Flagg earning 10 free throws during their encounter on Feb. 4 but he does not deny how good of a player the Dallas Mavericks rookie is.
The Boston Celtics earned the win in that game by posting a double double of 33 and 11 but Flagg held his own against the MVP candidate. Brown thought the 2025 no. 1 pick is legit.

“We played them last week. My boy is him. He’s got my respect for sure. He can hoop,” the Celtics star said in his Twitch stream.
“He scored 30 on us on all floaters. Left hand, right hand, at the cup. Made the game look easy. For a 19-year-old [doing that]? Spectacular.”
Flagg finish the match with a game-high 36 points.
He has been on a scoring tear although he put up just 14 points in their last outing. He recorded a career high of 49 points versus the Charlotte Hornets. That was the most by any teenager according to the NBA.
He then followed it up with a 34-point game before their game against the Celtics.

Cooper Flagg’s shoe deal
One proof that a player is “him” is when he gets his own signature shoes. Popular brand New Balance is cashing on it. They have been with him since 2024.
The Mavs rookie stars in a new ad campaign called “Quiet Noise” together with Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey and Cameron Brink of the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA.
“We’re not trying to build into the antique, we’re not trying to glorify the old days,” Ian Fitzpatrick, New Balance’s Global Senior Dir of Performance, said about the campaign.
“We’re not trying to remake the Hickory Hoosiers here. We talk a lot about the idea that this is a brand with heritage but not a heritage brand
