San Antonio Spurs are looking good so far this season that only few notice that they have been playing this month without Devin Vassell. Spurs are currently sitting at second place in the Western Conference, behind their rivals Oklahoma City Thunder.

Vassell is in the Top 4 of major statistical categories for the Spurs but he unfortunately had to miss the whole January due to a left adductor strain. He incurred the injury on December 29 during loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Spurs said he could be back this week when they meet New Orleans Pelicans at the Frost Bank Center. The 25-year-old forward has re-joined his team in practices and is already doing 5-on-5.
He also firmly confirmed the news of his return.
“Yeah, for sure. For sure,” he said when asked if he will play versus the Pelicans.

His career took a backset this season with De’Aaron Fox joining them full time. Vassell, who signed a five-year, $146 million in 2023, is averaging career low in points, rebounds, and assists. He currently averages 15.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists.
Devin Vassell declares self ready
Vasell admits that the rehab period has been tough for him as his team find success with him out of the line up. Victor Wembanyama, Fox, and Stephon Castle are carrying the team well.
“Injuries are injuries, man, and they suck,” he said.

“I wanted to pretty much play every game, but when an injury like that happens, and how the season has been and stuff like that with an injury like that, take your time, try to get back.”
Regardless, he is ready to return. He said he feels great about his body and that he is “Right back like I never left,”
