The San Antonio Spurs had a resurgence for the 2025-26 NBA season. Their 18-7 record shows that their young core has begun to discover ways to succeed. Most of the attention has been on how Victor Wembanyama has played this year. Through 13 games, he’s averaged 25.8 points, 12.6 rebounds and 3.5 blocks.
While Wembanyama has been their best scorer and defender, Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green mentioned an overlooked player in the team’s success: Stephon Castle. Green recognized Castle’s impact, calling him an “ultimate winner.”
“I think the Spurs are just as lucky to have Stephon Castle as they are to have Wemby,” Green said. “Stephon is a winner; he’s been a winner his entire life. And I think Stephon has brought the winning ways to the San Antonio Spurs.
“They are a winning organization. But they’ve been losing for a while; they got to get those ways back. Castle, to me, is one of the ultimate winners. He’s one of those types of guys.”

Green clarified that he doesn’t see a positive impact from Wembanyama. However, the four-time champion simply wanted to give Castle the proper credit he deserves for helping turn things around for San Antonio. The reigning Rookie of the Year has appeared in 16 games this season, averaging 18.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 6.9 assists.
Kevin Garnett wants to help the Spurs develop Victor Wembanyama

Before the season started, Victor Wembanyama had a chance to work out with NBA legend Kevin Garnett. While the Frenchman has all the tools to be a great player, he still wants to pick the brains of the stars who came before him. On Tuesday’s episode of “KG Certified,” Garnett sent a message to San Antonio, revealing his willingness to help Wembanyama improve.
“Spurs, if you all are listening, I would love to come in there and get a session with him,” Garnett said.
“He’s trying to get to a place of domination. That’s what I’m seeing him do that when we get in the gym, I want to be able to simply help him with that,” the 15-time All-Star added.
Garnett was one of the best frontcourt players during his time, and even served as the rival of San Antonio’s Tim Duncan. NBA legends are reaching out to Wembanyama to see him reach his full potential.
