The Golden State Warriors have had one of the best starts to the 2025-26 NBA season. Led by Steph Curry, the Warriors have gone 3-1 to start the new year. Curry has performed as if he weren’t an aging star, averaging 29 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists through the first four games. Although it’s a small sample size, the former Davidson star is playing better than he did when he won his first MVP award.
As one of the oldest teams in the NBA, the Warriors are determined to contend for the championship. The team has started to show early on about the determination they have to play for the title. With Curry as Golden State’s leader, the team is confident that it has what it takes to compete against other teams.
Based on what Curry has shown this year, Warriors star Draymond Green boldly picked his 38-year-old co-star as a winner of the MVP award. Green was confident in his take on Tuesday’s episode of “The Draymond Green Show.”

“For the MVP award … I don’t know that we’ve ever seen it done before, but if we have, excuse me and I apologize, but I don’t think we’ve ever seen a 38-year-old win the MVP award,” Green said. “And I think Steph Curry is going to make a run for it. My MVP — we’re going to have a great year, and he’s going to keep doing what he’s doing — Steph Curry’s about to take home his third MVP this season.”
If he ends up winning the award, it’ll be the third time in Curry’s career. The 11-time All-Star won his first in 2015 and secured the prize a second time in 2016.
Steph Curry says scoring under 20 points could become a regular thing for him

On Monday, Steph Curry had his first game with under 20 points. Against the Memphis Grizzlies, Curry only had 16 points on 45.5% shooting from the field. It wasn’t that he struggled to shoot the ball, though. Rather, he didn’t put up enough shots.
This allowed the young core of Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski and Moses Moody to have their own 20-point game. Kuminga led the team with 25 points, Podz had 23 and Moody added 20 off the bench.
Following the contest, Curry explained that the unpredictability of the team’s offense could lead him to take a step back and allow others to take over.
“Knowing how I can be an off-ball threat creates some chaos. [We] got to the line, guys knocked them down. Mo came in, huge energy for us,” Curry said. “So, that’s how you get through a regular season, just the unpredictability but the confidence that everyone can step up.”
With that dynamic, the Warriors could be an unexpected threat in the Western Conference.
