Steph Curry is no longer a young NBA star. He is 37 and one of the senior players. Despite his age, he still proves that he is a significant part of the Golden State Warriors‘ success. Last season, he proved that he can be a major key for the Warriors, especially in the playoffs. In the first round of the playoffs, Curry averaged 24 points, 5.9 rebounds and 5.7 assists in the seven games against the Houston Rockets.
His performance helped them advance to the second round against the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, he was hurt in Game 1 and did not return, causing them to lose in five games. That was enough to prove that Curry is important in Golden State’s system. Without him, the Warriors couldn’t win a game.
And even though he’s on the older side, he’s still determined to improve his game. A recent update from his trainer could surprise fans ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season.

Brandon Payne, Curry’s trainer, had an interview with RB. According to him, he and the future Hall of Famer worked on reacting faster and executing his moves on the floor better.
“His first-step quickness and explosiveness is the fastest that it’s ever been, if not faster. But as players age, the one thing they can do is continue to work on processing information fast and make faster decisions to offset any gap that is created with losing a step,” Payne said.
Steph Curry’s trainer also revealed that they worked on his strength this summer. Given that he’s an easy target for double teams and physical defenses, Payne believes that addressing his strength is key this offseason.
Payne finds it ‘comical’ not to have Steph Curry as an MVP candidate

As the new season begins, ESPN has made numerous predictions on who the likely MVP, Rookie of the Year, and NBA champion will be. In their MVP prediction, however, Steph Curry isn’t part of the potential candidates to win the award.
Payne thought the omission of the four-time champion is “comical.”
“It’s comical to me…” the trainer said.
“Having Stephen Curry on your roster gives you a chance to win a championship every single day. How that guy is not considered an MVP candidate is amusing to me.”
The last time Curry won the MVP was in 2016, when he made history by being the only player to win the award unanimously. The closest he got after that was in 2021, when he finished third in the voting. Despite that, Steph Curry has been focused on leading his team to NBA titles.
