Is Stephen A. Smith running for president of the United States? While the ESPN analyst has both expressed interest and clarified disinterest regarding the matter, critic and fellow analyst jason Whitlock had his insights about the matter.
In one of the most recent episodes of his program “Fearless,” Jason Whitlock talked about the topic of Stephen A. Smith running for president. For Whitlock, the idea is not as far-fetched as some might see, as the signs have been around for years.
“Let me unpack my thoughts here on Stephen A. Smith and him finally coming out of the closet and saying what’s been obvious and true for a solid three years,” Whitlock said. “The guy wants to run for president there are clearly powerful people backing him in his run for president.
“They wrote a book [about him called] Straight Shooter, [and they] came up with all these wild concocted narrative that fits all the Democrat playbooks and took all these unnecessary shots at Donald Trump that’s why I was able to instantly go ‘Hey this guy wants to run for president and he’s planning to run for president and that’s why he’s pretending to be best friends with Sean Hannity and pretending to be friends with Bill O’Reilly.’”
With these things said, Whitlock has one conclusion about Smith’s real role in the whole “running for president” narrative.
“There is a little cabal that helps the establishment prop up people they want to run for president or want to put in powerful political positions and it was just like what Katt Williams said in the Shannon Sharpe interview that they’re all plants, and Stephen A. Smith is a plant. What baffles me is that he’s been allowed to get away with it.”
“And that is why he believes he can run for president and he’s going to get away from it.”

Stephen A. Smith Clarifies Stand on Potential POTUS Run
In a recent interview, Stephen A. Smith clarifies that while he has no plans of running for president, he is “not closing the door” on the idea.
“I have no desire to be a politician,” Smith said. “My life is pretty well. But I’ve decided I’m no longer going to close that door. I’m going to keep my options open, I’m going to entertain the possibility and if it comes in 2026 [or] 2027 where I look at this country and I think it’s an absolute mess and there’s legitimate reason to believe that I indeed would have a legitimate shot to win the presidency of the United States, I am not going to rule it out.”
