4-Time Champ Stephen Curry Reveals the Magical String that Connects Him and Draymond Green in Book ‘Shot Ready’

Klay Thompson may be the more popular teammate Stephen Curry had, forming the Splash Brothers tag that won them three championships but Draymond Green may be the link that held the Golden State Warriors together.

In an upcoming book titled Shot Ready, Curry allowed fans to have a peek at the chemistry he had with the one-time Defensive Player of the Year.

Curry and Green are two remaining players from their 2022 title. They were also part of the core that won them three championships in 2015, 2017, and 2018. Curry is probably the reason why the team would not let go Green.

Chef Curry operates as if he got an assistant chef and as per the book, that is Draymond. He acknowledged the ‘telepathy’ fans refer to about their chemistry.

“People talk about the ‘telepathy’ Draymond and I share, our ability to know two steps ahead of time what the other will do. We had to build that level of connection over time, but honestly, almost right away we had pretty good chemistry in terms of knowing how to work together off the ball,” the two-time MVP wrote.

He then praised his long-time teammate to read and create a situation for him and his teammates.

“It was unusual to have a forward like Dray in that role, but his drive and intelligence and our growing chemistry opening up all kinds of creative possibilities for our offense. It was unconventional but we knew that if we got the ball to Draymond, he would make the right play.”

Green has grown into a bruiser on the court and one can say he cost them the 2016 title because of his antics in the 2016 finals that got him suspended.

This season and in the last ones, their campaigns went downhill went down because of his temper that got him suspended for a stretch. Team staff even had to subject him to a psychiatrist to reflect.

There were calls to have him traded but Curry is not having any of that. He said Green has a specific job and he’s doing great at it.

“When you are looking for someone to partner with in a business venture, you have to be careful about selecting someone who’s just like you, you don’t get much from redundant, overlapping skills and approaches,” he said in the book.

“The same applies when you’re trying to build a winning team culture in basketball. If there were two Steph Currys leading our team, two players who were reserved and stoic in their approach to leadership, our locker room would be missing energy (and even just literal volume) that’s needed to inspire a team to greatness. You need steady, resolute, quiet leadership sometimes and sometimes you need someone who’ll just stir things up. Luckily, we found just the right man for the job.”

The book Shot Ready will start being available on September 9. It was written by Curry himself and according to the NBA superstar, it is not just a recount of his career but a break down of his philosophy and transformation through preparation.
