Stephen Curry tried to lead the Golden State Warriors past the Toronto Raptors on Sunday. However, his efforts were overshadowed by the Raptors’ 141-127 overtime win. Curry had 39 points in 41 minutes and shot 36.4% from deep.
The four-time champion played heavy minutes in the first game of their back-to-back. On Monday, the Warriors are set to face the Brooklyn Nets, the second road game of their current three-game road stretch. With the playing time he had against Toronto, Curry told the media that he isn’t sure if he’ll suit up against Brooklyn.
Although he pointed out that he “felt great” despite being on the floor for an extended period.
Throughout the 2025-26 NBA season, the Warriors have been cautious with how they manage the league’s all-time 3-pointers leader. He has sat out the second game of their back-to-back twice this season. The first time was against the Sacramento Kings on Nov. 4. Before the Warriors face the Kings, Curry played 33 minutes against the Phoenix Suns and led the team to a 118-107 win.
The second time was against the Miami Heat. Stephen Curry played 34 minutes against the Orlando Magic, leading to a 121-113 loss.
The Warriors want to prevent Curry from becoming overworked since he isn’t getting any younger.
Stephen Curry had an encouraging message to Cooper Flagg

Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg played in his first NBA Christmas Day game. The Mavericks faced the Stephen Curry-led Warriors squad on Dec. 25, which led to a 126-116 loss. After the contest, Curry spoke highly of the No. 1 pick.
“Just a true hooper, competitor, you forget how young he is,” Curry said. “The future is bright, I’m glad he got this experience his first year and understand what the bright lights feel like. The league is in good hands.”

It’s huge for a rookie to receive such praise from a seasoned star player like the Warriors guard. The 11-time All-Star recognizes the talent that the former Duke star has and sees a bright future ahead.
Flagg left a lasting impression in his Christmas Day debut. He had 27 points, six rebounds and five assists. However, his efforts were spoiled by Curry, who had 23 points and four assists.
