The San Antonio Spurs are looking scary early in the new NBA season — and Stephon Castle’s mom is all in on the hype. After Sunday’s 118–107 win over the Brooklyn Nets, the Spurs are sitting at 3-0, one of their strongest starts in recent memory.
A lot of that momentum comes from Victor Wembanyama, who’s been flat-out dominant since opening night. He torched Dallas for 40 points, followed that up with 29 against New Orleans, then stuffed the stat sheet again Sunday with 31 points, 14 rebounds, and six blocks.

But it’s not just Wemby making noise. Castle, last year’s Rookie of the Year, has been showing why San Antonio sees him as part of the future. He scored 22 points in the opener, then went for 16 points, six boards, and six assists versus the Pelicans. Against Brooklyn, he added 13 points on 50% shooting — steady and efficient.
That effort had his mom, Quannette Castle, fired up online.
“3-0 brick by brick…. Go Spurs go!!” she posted on X.

The Spurs will try to push the streak to four when they take on the Toronto Raptors on Monday. Toronto, who just split its first two games, will be coming in after facing Dallas.
Fans have quickly bought into the Wemby–Castle combo — two young stars still learning each other’s rhythms but already flashing long-term potential.
Stephon Castle’s Turnover Troubles
Of course, it’s not all smooth yet. With De’Aaron Fox still out, Castle is handling most of the point guard duties, and the turnovers keep showing up.

He had five in the opener, a rough 10 against the Pelicans, and another five in the Nets win. That’s just part of the growing pains, though. Every young guard goes through it.
The good thing is, Castle doesn’t seem rattled. He’s still attacking, still playing with poise, and the Spurs are clearly letting him learn on the job. If he keeps trending upward, the rest will come.
