Steve Kerr was in for some unexpected booing by Boston fans on Wednesday at TD Garden. The four-time NBA champion coach was is in-charge of the Golden State Warriors, was shamed by fans of the Boston Celtics who did not appreciate their player, Jayson Tatum, not being played enough by Kerr at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Kerr definitely had his reasons for not playing Tatum as part of his strategy for the team. In response to the booing, Jrue Holiday, who plays guard for the Boston Celtics, joked about enjoying Kerr’s uncomfortable situation. Actually, Holiday was a part of Team USA in this year’s Olympics, and played under Kerr.
“For the whole Jayson-Steve Kerr thing, you gotta talk to them about that,” Holiday said. “The fans didn’t like it (Kerr benching Tatum). They booed the hell out bro. I like Steve, but that was amazing.”

While Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics did try their best to get back at Kerr for not playing him enough in the Olympics on Wednesday, the Golden State Warriors managed to win the game with a final score of 118-112. In that game, Golden State’s offense was led by Stephen Curry who put up 27 points in total, grabbing seven rebounds and assisting nine times.

Jayson Tatum Does Not Care About Steve Kerr Benching Him
While many fans and critics have tried to analyze every detail of why Steve Kerr would not properly play Jayson Tatum in the Olympics, the latter simply does not seem to care about this and has moved on. Veteran sportswriter Bob Ryan, and journalist Jeff Goodman, discussed this recently in their NBA recap, highlighting that Tatum has matured very well.

In the discussion, the two experts addressed the various challenges that the Golden State Warriors are going through. Not only this, but they did throw some important light on the Boston Celtics as well, particularly Jayson Tatum and his performance. Referencing the booing that Steve Kerr experienced on Wednesday, Tatum did not seem to react at all.
Jayston Tatum not reacting or responding to the Steve Kerr drama following the Olympics, is a sign of the player maturing to greater heights, as per Ryan and Goodman. Not only Tatum, but even Steve Kerr has not reacted much on that particular situation, with the head coach going on to express that the decision to bench the player was indeed difficult and necessary at the same time.
