The question of whether Draymond Green or Victor Wembanyama is a better defender is up for debate. While the Golden State Warriors star has been considered one of the best for the past few seasons, many believe the San Antonio Spurs star is the future. But when Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was asked about it, he still thinks that Green is the best around the NBA.
Green has made a name for himself as one of the best defenders of all time. Despite being undersized at 6-foot-6, he can hold his own and knows how to use his advantage. The four-time All-Star has won the Defensive Player of the Year award in 2017 and has been named to nine All-Defensive teams. The former Michigan State forward is the defensive anchor for Golden State.
Wemby, on the other hand, has yet to win the Defensive Player of the Year. The Frenchman came close in his rookie year, when he finished second behind Rudy Gobert. The Spurs star has the potential to be the best defender in the NBA. He’s shown brilliance by leading the blocks in his first two years.

During Kerr’s guest appearance on 95.7 The Game’s “Willard & Dibs” on Monday, he spoke highly of Draymond Green. But he also acknowledged Wembanyama’s ceiling.
“Draymond is still the best defensive player in the league. I really believe that because he can guard anybody, at any position…Wemby is literally a foot taller than him. That was an amazing [matchup] to watch,” Kerr said.

The Warriors’ 109-108 victory over Green and Wemby on Friday was well-received by the crowd. The next time they’ll meet will be on Feb. 11 at Chase Center.
Draymond Green reveals what was spoken between him and Wemby

Fans loved the competitiveness between Draymond Green and Victor Wembanyama when the two faced off last Friday. During an inbounds play, Stephon Castle threw a lob pass for Wemby, which he caught and dunked over Green. The basket didn’t count, but emotions were high. The two frontcourt stars exchanged words.
On Monday’s episode of “The Draymond Green Show,” the four-time champion revealed what was said between him and Wemby.
“Right before the dunk, I blocked his shot,” Green said. “When I blocked his shot, I gave him a crazy look, like, yeah, motherf***er.”
Green said that Wemby fired back with this:
“He was like, what, huh, you are too small.”

“I said, you little, motherf***er. You are too little. He is like, I am too little? Alright.”
Green said that he thought he could get up to contest the dunk. However, Wemby’s length proved challenging to overcome.
