Erik Spoelstra just replaced Steve Kerr as the coach of the USA National Men’s Basketball Team. Could he also be on the way out as Golden State Warriors coach?

It was only last year when Kerr, the architect of the Warriors’ four championship in a decade, signed a multi-year extension. He is not yet on his last year but discussions on his tenure with the team are already floating.
General manager Mike Dunleavy confirms there is uncertainty but suggests it is not on their end.
“Yeah, I mean, I guess technically there is [uncertainty],” Dunleavy said.

“This isn’t really a regular situation with a head coach where he’s in the last year of his deal. We know what it is with Steve. He’s been here a long time. He’s been an amazing part of this franchise, and as far as I’m concerned, can stay as long as he wants.”
It will be on Steve Kerr’s terms
Warriors are built to win now. It probably is as long as they have Stephen Curry in the line up. Dunleavy said it will be hard to see the team move on from both guys but they are being patient right now and are focused more on the current season.
He clarified that it will be on Kerr’s term.
“We’re going to give him the grace of the season to go through it, or at least some of it, to see and feel where he’s at mentally and physically.”

As for the 60-year-old head coach, he insisted that his relationship with the front office is intact and that there’s no reason to be concerned at the moment.
“I’m very comfortable going into the season with a year left,” Kerr said in an interview with ESPN.
“I’m so aligned with [general manager] Mike [Dunleavy] and [owner] Joe [Lacob]. We talked about this — there’s no reason for discussion or concern. This is kind of a point in our relationship where let’s just see how it is at the end of the year.”
