It was only a few weeks ago when the Golden State Warriors’ 2025-26 season roster took shape with the signing of Al Horford and Seth Curry. Does that mean they are ready for the new season? Steve Kerr says they are not even ready yet to name starting five.

One area they are still polishing is the shooting guard. They currently has two-time MVP Stephen Curry for the PG role while Jimmy Butler will be their small forward. Draymond Green is the power forward and Horford will be the center.
Buddy Hield is a holdover from last season but he is not an outright starting SG. Kerr is looking at another player but he refuses to confirm their starter for #2 spot because he is also considering the age of the line-up.

“I can’t say that yet. We’ve got to see where we are,” Kerr told reporters after their pre-season loss to the Los Angeles Lakers yesterday.
“Brandin [Podziemski]’s going to play a ton. He’s a hugely important player for us. But the starting lineup frankly is a little tricky for us, given the pieces and Al [Horford]’s age.”
Golden State has young core but need veteran more
The Warriors are a team built to win now although they got a young core who can run, led by Jonathan Kuminga who decided to return to the team after a stalemate on his extension.
Podziemski had an improved sophomore year, raising his 9.2 ppg from his freshman year to 11.3. However, he missed some time as he played in just 64 games from last year’s 74.

Another option for the SG spot is their 14th overall pick Moses Moody who played 74 games last season and started in 34.
These two starting will be a problem as Horford is already 39 years old. He can’t be all gassed up in the regular season and then get exhausted when the playoff comes.
Warriors’ most immediate need from the last postseason was in the frontcourt as they did not have an answer to the Minnesota Timberwolves who sent them packing in the second round in just five games.
