Cade Cunningham is a big and strong point guard. He is a good franchise player to build around with. That’s the most common take on the Detroit Pistons star. There’s not much said about his scoring but Golden State Warriors coach is seeing something.

Warriors visited and lost to Detroit on Friday and big part of it is Cunningham’s 29 points and 11 rebounds. Kerr made sure to note the impact Cunningham had before the tip off.
How huge is his impact? The champion coach thought he can put it in the same level as two of the best scorers of this generation.
“He’s awesome. He reminds me of Luka [Doncic] and James Harden. Just kind of a one-man offense, running everything through him,” Kerr said before the game.
“He’s a great, great player, really coming into his own.”

Cade Cunningham, Luka, and Harden
Doncic and Harden have accomplished a lot individually. They were able to send their teams to either Conference or NBA Finals.
They are both super scorers but Cunningham is not. The difference is in the number of shots they take. The Pistons star has gone past 20+ attempts per game in a season just once so far while the other two did it multiple times already.
Cunningham can be a high volume scorer, too, although his averages are not yet there in the same level as Doncic and Harden.

To average 30+ points in a single season is a hard feat but Harden did it four times. Doncic has done it twice and might be on his way to his third as he is posting 33.7 points per game this season.
As for Cunningham, people might not see that anytime soon as he is in a team that puts premium on team play. His average scoring season so far is 26.1 during the 2024-25 NBA year.
