The Phoenix Suns are on a roll, winning their fourth straight game on Monday. Dillon Brooks‘ team-high of 26 points led the group to a 115-101 win over the Washington Wizards. Brooks was one of three players who scored at least 20 points. All-Star guard Devin Booker added 22 points, six rebounds and five assists.
But the player who stole the show was Collin Gillespie. The starting point guard posted 25 points, four rebounds, six assists and two steals. Gillespie shot 71.4% from the field and made 5-for-8 of his attempts from deep, staying true to the nickname Brooks gave him after the contest.
His teammates crashed his postgame interview, as they celebrated his performance that led to a win. Brooks approached the starting point guard and hailed him as “Mr. Consistent” for Phoenix.
“Mr. Consistent,” Brooks said.
The reporter asked the forward if it was a new nickname for the guard. However, Brooks said that Gillespie has always been consistent for the Suns. He also showed his appreciation for the hardwork of the former Villanova guard.

“He’s been consistent for us every night, getting us going. Every single night, every single day. We appreciate you for your hardwork.”
Gillespie has appeared in 31 games, averaging 13.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists.
Suns continue to climb the power rankings

The Phoenix Suns have been one of the biggest surprises in the NBA this season. They were predicted to underachieve after Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal left the team over the summer. But they’ve shut down the doubters with their strong performances.
The Athletic placed them at the No. 14 spot the previous week. But they’ve climbed significantly to the No. 7 spot. For NBA.com, however, the Suns remained consistent at the No. 7 spot from last week. ClutchPoints has Phoenix at No. 9 after placing the Western Conference team at No. 13. Insider Brett Siegel pointed out how the team’s defensive tenacity has given them the edge.
“While Booker masks a lot of this team’s offensive problems, the Suns have proven to be a tough defensive team every night. That is why they have been the biggest surprise in the West this season,” Siegel wrote.
After beating Washington, Phoenix is now 19-13, seventh in the West.
