Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker had a strong opinion about how the NBA referees officiate certain games and players. Game officials have been criticized by current stars, former players and even fans for their inconsistency. Following the Suns’ 119-116 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Saturday, Booker called out the referees.
The Suns have had thrilling moments in the last two minutes of play in recent games. In their 116-114 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, several calls could’ve turned things around. Even against the Warriors, certain calls could’ve changed the outcome.
During the Suns’ practice on Monday, Booker couldn’t help but compare the lack of consistency that officials have across the league.
“Just consistency in the game,” Booker said. “I think one of my big problems is I watch all the games mostly every night, and expect to get similar calls to people that have the same usage rate as me, but that’s not the case.
Suns' Devin Booker on how the officiating can be better:

“But in the game, with the referee crew you have, I think if similar plays happen on both sides, they should be called or not called.”
Even coach Jordan Ott wants to see consistency from game officials.
“What everyone’s going to say, is that, there are so many things that go on in the game, there’s so many mistakes made by all of us. My focus is always how can we be better,” Ott said.
Devin Booker thinks the NBA should get rid of the L2M Report

In March 2015, the NBA started the L2M (Last Two-Minute) Report. It doesn’t alter the result, even though it has assisted referees in reviewing several calls after the game. One of the celebrities who thinks the league should do away with it is Devin Booker, who thinks it makes players more irritated.
“I think they should just get rid of it overall,” Booker said. “I think it just adds more frustration to everybody.”
Booker pointed out that when a referee makes a call, it usually doesn’t change. The former Kentucky star tries his best to view the L2M Report in the eyes of both teams.
The officials missed a critical play against the Warriors. Devin Booker attempted to foul Steph Curry, but it was not called. Curry made a layup as a result, giving Golden State a three-point advantage.
