Dillon Brooks is a wanted man now but in a good way. The Phoenix Suns star even gets dragged to trade rumors out of nowhere because of the way he’s been ballin this season with his new team. He’s even getting campaigns to become an All-Star for the first time.

One example and when he hit more than 30 points multiple times, something he’s never done with the Memphis Grizzlies or Houston Rockets.
Four-time All-Star DeMarcus Cousins was the one who brought up the idea of removing him from the team he’s currently tied with and be sent to the Los Angeles Lakers for Austin Reaves. It was both about Brooks’ ability to change the culture of the team and Lakers having a redundancy in the line up.
“He’s a culture changer, he’s a proven winner. We talk about all of the glaring holes when it comes to this Lakers team. He fits exactly what they need right now. He’s also averaging about 22, 23, possibly 24 a game,” Cousins said in the Run it Back show.
“You’re getting a two-way player compared to a one-sided player. Why wouldn’t you do it? I think we get caught up in names and highlights and all that. We’re talking about building a championship team.”

Cousins got a point but the Lakers are not the main characters here. Suns owner Matt Ishbia instantly shot down the trade rumors saying any teams should not bother inquiring about Brooks.

Dillon Brooks got huge guarantee from owner
Brooks said he was not aware of the trade discussions. Instead, he heard it from Ishbia himself. The 2023 All Defensive Second Team member was just not informed about it, although he did not have to.
Instead, he got a guarantee.
“He’s been saying I’m going to be a longtime Phoenix Sun,” Brooks told The Arizona Republic’s Duane Rankin.

“I appreciate it. Keeps everything where it’s supposed to be in terms of basketball. I don’t even see all that type of stuff, but my boy sent it to me.”
Suns weren’t supposed to be where they are right now after letting superstar Kevin Durant go. They remained competitive and many people credit that to Brooks, as well as Devin Booker, for the drive and spirit he brought to the team.
