Kevin Durant is used to opposing coaches doing everything to stop him from getting the hot hand. He’s used to facing unique defensive schemes as one of the most efficient scorers the NBA has ever seen. The fact that he can still score despite these challenges makes him one of the greatest scorers in league history.
While KD is still a terrific baller worth a proper game plan, his Phoenix Suns are struggling to get things off the ground. They’re currently nursing a losing record (despite the forward’s insistence that the Phoenix locker room is still working together in their championship pursuit).

Phoenix is almost back to a positive win-loss record after their most recent win against the Charlotte Hornets, where he once again stood out with his scoring. However, the Slim Reaper couldn’t help but notice how Charles Lee approached their game against his squad.
Kevin Durant warned teams not to double-team him after putting up 27 for the Suns

Durant noted that LaMelo Ball and the Suns immediately hounded Durant with a double team during Phoenix’s 113-120 win over the visiting Hornets. He noted that while it’s a good way to get the ball off his hands, he warned the Hornets and the rest of the league that zeroing in on him is a bad idea.
Per Fadeaway World’s Gautan Varier:
“Sometimes it’s a little weird,” Durant stated. “I always talk to the bench about that, the opposing team, but they just telling us they rather live with my teammates shooting open shots, which is crazy to me.
“You know the law of averages, guys gonna knock those down if you keep giving them looks,” Durant continued. “And we got a healthy amount of those looks throughout the game and we was able to execute there in the fourth quarter.
Durant is speaking the truth here. While many of Durant’s teammates aren’t as lethal shooters as he is, they’re still NBA players. They’ll be able to take over some of KD”s scoring load with enough touches to sharpen their shooting stroke.
Moreover, the Hornets failed to contain Durant anyway. KD finished the game with 27 points on 11-for-24 shooting, eight boards, and five dimes.

Lee had a good idea with forcing Durant to rely on his teammates to do the scoring for him. However, the rest of the league must also work on preventing his teammates from scoring as much as they please.
