The Phoenix Suns are in the midst of a troubling 2024-25 season.  Through their first 50 games they’re an even 25-25.  That is good enough for 10th currently in the Western Conference.  As the trade deadline approached, many thought the Suns were going to be an active member.

That hasn’t been the case, and Kevin Durant soon went viral.

A lengthy saga following Jimmy Butler’s tenure with the Miami Heat included the Phoenix Suns being continually linked to him.

    Then they weren’t:

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Wednesday that the Heat traded Butler to the Golden State Warriors in a multi-team deal that brought Andrew Wiggins back to Miami. It means Golden State has another headline name alongside Stephen Curry and Draymond Green as it attempts to make a charge up the Western Conference standings.

And it also means the Suns will likely look pretty similar once Thursday’s trade deadline passes.

NBA Insider Chris Haynes reported the Suns were prepared for this scenario all along:

Social media had plenty of reaction from a Phoenix perspective:

Kevin Durant will be a Suns , I bet on that ..
The Suns project hasn’t tipped to the expectations, they will keep him

Kevin Durant will be traded to the Denver Nuggets ahead of the deadline as talks have risen ‘from the shadows’ and both teams are eager to get a deal done.

If I wake up tomorrow and the Mavericks have traded for or are going to trade for Kevin Durant, MavsOutlet will no longer be a thing.

It would be the most unethical (maybe) championship in all of the NBA and I don’t want to be associated with it. You don’t win that way.

    — Dirks Goat (@MavsOutlet) February 6, 2025

Ok ok, last Tweet. Kevin Durant to The Lakers or The Nuggets please. I believe that’s best option or he stays with The Suns.
