When Team USA met South Sudan for their Group C matchup at the 2024 Olympics, it became clear that the Americans were out for blood against South Sudan.
Basketball fans remember how the South Sudanese almost took their tune-up game against South Sudan. The game served as a wake-up call for the squad as LeBron James rallied the troops to take every game ahead from that point onward as seriously as possible.
While they haven’t lost any games since then, fans paid special attention to their South Sudan game. Some even openly wondered if their African opponents would replicate such a great game against a team chock full of NBA stars.
However, the Americans managed to win comfortably against the South Sudanese. It was a great team effort from the Americans that also featured an entirely new lineup from the Americans.
The win was so great that Kevin Durant had an interesting message in the heat of the game.

Kevin Durant was shooting during the Americans’ 103-86 victory when he got into a heated conversation with the South Sudanese team.
As the Slim Reaper was preparing to take his shot, the footage caught him mouthing a rude comment to the opposing players and coaching staff:

Durant had every right to voice his opinions during the game as he had an outstanding game. He finished with 14 points, two rebounds, three assists, and three steals in only 22 minutes of play. The rest of the squad also had a solid game, with most of the points coming from players who didn’t even start the game.

With Team USA’s spot in the bracket all but secured, they can take their foot off the pedal a little when they face Belgium in their final game. However, it’s unlikely that Kevin Durant and company will spare their Belgian opponents any mercy.
