Zion Williamson was supposed to save the New Orleans Pelicans as the franchise’s next big thing. The first overall pick in 2019 came from Duke with generational talent, but injuries derailed his trajectory. Five years later, he is in no way looking like the next big thing in the NBA as the Pelicans sit at 10-34.
But former NBA stars Lindsey Hunter and Tim Hardaway Sr. think Williamson’s off-court behavior is equally problematic. On a recent episode of the Crossover Podcast, Hunter didn’t hold back, branding Williamson a sex addict who needs professional therapy, not team pep talks.
Former NBA Voice Lindsey Hunter Claims Pelicans’ Zion Williamson Has Serious Sex Addiction Problem
Hunter’s assessment came blunt and direct. While Williamson was once projected as the next dominant force, Hunter shared a different narrative about the 25-year-old’s struggles.
“He got a problem,” Hunter said. “The man’s a sex addict. He’s been caught. He needs help. Why does he keep texting them from his phone? He’s going for like p–nstars. What is wrong with him? He needs to chill out.
He added, “They need to give him therapy. Talking to him is not gonna help. I’m sure people have talked to him already… That means you have a problem. Can’t control himself.”
He actually referenced Williamson’s documented issues with OnlyFans models and adult film stars. In June 2023, multiple women publicly exposed their relationships with Williamson.
Just to recap, adult star Moriah Mills claimed Williamson cheated on his pregnant girlfriend Ahkeema. Instagram model Yamile Taylor called him a “nasty a– sex addict” after revelations surfaced. Mills threatened to release sex tapes, accused him of abuse, and detailed their encounters without protection.
Hunter and Hardaway Sr. both emphasized that compulsive sexual behavior requires professional intervention. Hunter specifically questioned why Williamson keeps texting from his personal phone if he’s trying to keep things private. The pattern suggests inability to control impulses.
Hardaway Sr. added his own theory. He joked that Williamson might want to become a pornstar after retirement. The comment drew laughs but underscored how public Williamson’s personal life has become.
Hunter, however, compared the situation to Lamar Odom, who confessed to being a sex addict who slept with over 2,000 women. Odom’s addiction destroyed his marriage to Khloe Kardashian and contributed to his downward spiral.
The difference? Williamson isn’t using drugs like Odom did. But Hunter argued sex addiction often masks deeper anxiety or emotional problems.
Williamson signed a five-year, $197 million extension in 2022, which could have ballooned to $231 million if he made All-NBA. Unfortunately, he’s made only one All-Star game since, falling short of expectations as a No. 1 overall pick.
He’s played 30 or fewer games four times in six seasons. The worst part? His career minutes total less than Paolo Banchero’s despite entering the league three years earlier.
In that scenario, trade talk often came up regarding him, but the Pelicans refused to trade Williamson, Herbert Jones, or Trey Murphy. Still, people keep asking questions about his behavior.
