The Oklahoma City Thunder-Phoenix Suns NBA Cup was pretty much boring from the get go and its most exciting part was when Grayson Allen decided to shove Chet Holmgren. It was in the middle of the third quarter and the game was out of Suns’ reach as they were down 36 points.

This lead is the reason why Thunder forward Jalen Williams think such physicality is already unnecessary.
“We’re up 40. I think something happened on the play before, so there was probably some frustration, but I just made sure I had Chet’s back, and that’s really about it,” Williams said when asked about the play.
Allen was eventually ejected in the game after getting assessed a Flagrant 2 foul for the play. Suns lost the game by 49 points.
Thunder enters the Final Four of NBA Cup with the win and will face the San Antonio Spurs who beat the Los Angeles Lakers.

Williams says it is Grayson Allen’s trademark
Allen’s teammate Royce O’Neale thought the Flagrant 2 foul call was not warranted and that Holmgren only sold it effectively.
“I don’t think it was excessive like that. (Chet Holmgren) might have sold it a little more to get that flagrant 2, but I don’t think it was a flagrant ,” he said in the locker room.

While O’Neale thought it is a basketball play, Williams suggested it is the type of play that Allen does. A confrontation ensued the Thunder All-Star said he is ready to protect his teammates.
“He’s kind of done this his whole career, so I get it. I just make sure I support my teammates and go from there. It’s not something to blow out of proportion. As much as I want it to be a big deal, it’s the NBA—nobody really fights anyway.”
