New York Knicks will never have a good night of sleep with Trae Young.
The Atlanta Hawks have entered the semifinals of the NBA Emirates Cup after defeating the Knicks at the Madison Square Garden through the lead of young who scored 22 points and dished out 11 assists.
DeAndre Hunter poured in 24 points from the bench while Jalen Johnson, who played 42 minutes, had 21 points and 15 rebounds. They will face the Milwaukee Bucks on a neutral ground.
It is no secret how much New York hates Young. It started when the three-time All-Star sent them home back in 2021 playoffs.
Young feels the same. But to him, it is love-hate relationship. He suggested that Knicks fans’ reception motivates him to play better whenever they face each other.
“It’s a love/hate relationship with the [Knicks] fans,” Young told ESPN shortly after the game.
“I mean, I got a lotta love and a lotta hate I guess from them, but I got a lotta love from them too, so it’s respect.”
Young and fans went at it early in the game. The home supporters let their visitors know it when they shouted expletives on the Hawks point guard when they were leading.
The visitors turned things around eventually and got the lead by 5:43 mark, 68-66 in the third quarter.
It was neck-and-neck from there and Knicks eventually lost their grip.
All Knicks starters scored in double digits led by Karl Anthony Towns who had 19-19. Josh Hard topscored for them with 21 points as well as eight rebounds and six assists.
What did Trae Young do on the Knicks logo?
Young is the type who will make sure that the opponents will hear it. There was the time he pulled off a Lebron James celebration.
There’s also the one where he pulled the “Ice Trae” celebration by rubbing his arms as if he’s getting cold.
He had a different one against the Knicks and it is something NY fans will probably never forget.
Young stood on the Knicks logo and acted like he was reaching for something.

According to the Hawks account, he was rolling the dice, probably a reference to the fact that they are going to Vegas for the semifinals of the NBA Cup.
Others thought it was just him acting like he is comforting Knicks fans represented by the logo.
At least it was not like what Kyrie Irving did to the Celtics logo.
