Tyler Herro’s Return for Heat Receives Scathing Remark From Insider, Suggests 2 Promising Teammates Struggle Now Because of Him

Tyler Herro is supposed to make the Miami Heat better. And he was getting numbers he is supposed to be getting.

The 2025 All-Star returned to the line-up on November 24 after dealing with an ankle injury. He has played six games already (missed two since the return) and is averaging 23.2 points, 5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. Those numbers are well within his averages during his All-Star season.

Problem is, team results are not there. The Heat have lost four straight and are 5-1 in their last six. Their latest loss was against the Orlando Magic in the NBA Cup quarterfinals. They were on a six-game winning streak before that and Herro was part of two of those.

What happened if he’s back and is in good form? NBA insider Brian Windhorst thinks it is because the others were affected negatively by his presence. He specifically mentioned Kel’el Ware and Jaime Jaquez.

The former was taken out of the starting five by coach Erik Spoelstra while Jaquez’s minutes dropped by 10 minutes.

“Ware and Jaquez had bigger roles before Herro came back and playing great. Since that has happened, In addition to league catching up, them two have lost their mojo a little bit,” Windhorst said.

Brian Windhorst says Tyler Herro returning has messed up Kel’el Ware and Jaime Jaquez “mojo”

Heat were winning before these successive losses but their point production dropping off was also noticeable.

Tyler Herro, Jaquez Jr., and Ware currently

Herro is getting his numbers but the other two’s performances adjusted.

In the games the starting SG was present, it showed how Jaquez needed his minutes to contribute. He can only manage 10 points or below when playing under 24 minutes. In the game against the Sacramento Kings in which hero was not present, he had a season high 27 points in 35 minutes. He also had 6 rebounds and 6 assists.

As for Ware, his game drastically dropped with the adjustment in the offense system they had to go through. He started off the bench in the past games.

His best game as a reliever was in loss to the Dallas Mavericks when he scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. However, that is the only time he scored in double digit in the last five games. His worst game during this stretch was when they won against the Los Angeles Clippers and recorded 0 point.
