Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers prevailed over the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday, 108-103, but not without Trendon Watford giving them a run for their money. The Nets forward gave the Pacers a challenge, finishing with 26 points off the bench.
The Pacers had to adjust their defensive strategies, thanks to Watford’s strong shooting. They focused on defending against the Nets forward, which worked well to get them the win.
With 1.9 seconds remaining in the game and Bennedict Mathurin on the charity stripe, Watford was caught talking trash to Tyrese Haliburton. The footage with the upped audio went public on social media courtesy of X user “@legendz_nba.”
The trash-talking started with Watford making the remark, “S**t, anything but short” aimed at Mathurin, who made his first free throw attempt. Mathurin then approached Watford to ask for a high five in some sort of trolling, which the Nets forward ignored.
“Don’t play with me,” Mathurin said before his second free throw attempt.
“You don’t even know what the playoffs look like,” Haliburton told Watford, who was next to him in rebounding position, to which the undrafted forward replied, “You just found out last year.” Haliburton hit back, saying, “You have no clue.”

“I can’t shoot?” Haliburton questioned the Nets forward.
“I just got double-teamed by a playoff team,” Watford told the Pacers star. “You’re an All-Star.”
“Exactly so,” Haliburton replied. “What are we talking about?”
“I’m undrafted,” Watford responded, to which Haliburton replied in jest, “For a reason.” The Nets forward added, “I’m getting doubled.” Haliburton quipped, “So am I.”
Watford had the last say, telling Haliburton, “You’re having a down year.”

Tyrese Haliburton’s teammates got heated with Trendon Watford
Prior to their game on Saturday, Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers defeated Trendon Watford and the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday, 105-99. During the fourth quarter of that game, the undrafted guard got into a heated altercation with Myles Turner after the Pacers center/power forward pushed his teammate Andrew Nembhard and then him.
The players had to be separated by their teammates, coaches, and referees. Turner and Nembhard were each charged with a technical foul, while Watford was ejected.
Watford and Nembhard were fined $20,000 for “initiating the altercation,” while Turner was fined $35,000 for escalating the situation.
