UConn basketball head coach Dan Hurley was certainly glad to see the Huskies winning again. After a tumultuous trip to Hawaii, where the reigning defending two-time national champions suffered three losses in a row against unranked teams, Connecticut has gone 2-0.
The Huskies defeated the lowly Maryland Eastern Shore at home last Saturday before facing their first real test since the Maui Invitational on Wednesday versus the No. 15 Baylor Bears.
UConn basketball’s Dan Hurley headbutts own player
The Huskies took care of business in the Bears game with a 76-72 win in what was a thriller of a contest. During one moment in the first half, the ever-passionate Hurley even appeared to headbutt one of his players, junior guard Aidan Mahaney, after an 8-0 UConn basketball run that trimmed Baylor’s lead down to just a point.

Fans have mixed reactions to that wild gesture from Hurley.
“So would a lot of players whose coach acts like an adult… stop making excuses… respect the game and all involved.. not hard,” shared an X (formerly Twitter) user.
Another one said: He’s an obnoxious twerp. Don’t you think most athletes feel that way about their coach w/o them acting like a whiny baby???
“I can hate his antics and think he’s a cry baby and he’s players can still love him, both can be true..,” wrote a fan.
“40 years ago they said Bob Knight was out of control for acting like that,” a different comment read.
With the win over Baylor, the Huskies improved to 6-3 overall this season. They will have another good test coming right up this Saturday when they play the Texas Longhorns (No. 34 on KenPom) in Austin.
