The trip to Hawaii is turning out to be a nightmare for UConn basketball. The two-time defending national champions flew to the island state with the mission to win the Maui Invitational Presented by Novavax, but it has been a completely opposite experience so far for Dann Hurley’s squad.
After losing to the Memphis Tigers on Monday, UConn got upset anew on Tuesday by the Colorado Buffaloes to the tune of a 73-72 score.
That loss definitely is not sitting well with Hurley, whose fiery nature was on full display again late in regulation of the Colorado game.
Here’s a livid Hurley going off during a timeout and with UConn clinging to a precarious one-point lead.

That lead did not hold for UConn, as Colorado senior forward Andrej Jakimovski scored on a driving layup with eight seconds left in the second half. The Huskies failed to respond to that with Hassan Diarra missing a 3-point attempt in the following possession.
UConn basketball does not look like a contender in Hawaii
The Huskies appear to have some issues to address amid their recent struggles. For one, their defense has been a letdown in Hawaii, having allowed Memphis to shoot 54.7 percent from the field and Colorado to connect on 51.1 percent of its attempts from the floor.
UConn basketball will look to avoid a three-game losing skid when it locks horns with the Dayton Flyers this Wednesday at Lahaina Civic Center in Hawaii.
