Fans are buzzing with excitement as USC Trojans’ JuJu Watkins makes history by having her jersey displayed in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame after just one season. This monumental achievement not only highlights her incredible talent but also cements her status as a rising star in women’s basketball, especially after leading her team to a big win recently.

Watkins and the Trojans emerged victorious against the UConn Huskies, winning 72-70 in a game that lived up to its high expectations. The match, held at the XL Center in Hartford, showcased Watkins’ incredible talent as she recorded 25 points, six rebounds, and five assists, proving herself against fellow star Paige Bueckers. This victory not only avenged last season’s Elite Eight loss but also highlighted the growing prominence of women’s basketball.

Watkins was not alone in her efforts; the team displayed impressive depth throughout the game. Kiki Iriafen, a standout transfer from Stanford, contributed significantly with a double-double, adding 16 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Kennedy Smith made her return after a brief absence, scoring nine points and helping solidify the Trojans’ performance. Collectively, USC shot an impressive 49% from the field and 56% from beyond the arc.

Despite their success, the Trojans faced challenges, including 18 turnovers that allowed UConn to rally back from an 18-point deficit. This resilience demonstrated the competitive spirit of both teams, making for an exhilarating viewing experience. Watkins also showed tenacity on the defensive end, taking on the challenge of guarding Bueckers throughout the game.
