The NBA was gripped by the Kawhi Leonard-Los Angeles Clippers news last week after it was reported that they had backdoor deals to circumvent the salary cap. While some players try to play safe commenting on the issue, Jimmy Butler of the Golden State Warriors is all about fueling it.

There have been complaints before how big market teams get to create their superteams and when the news of Leonard receiving around $50 million from the Clippers organization to endorse a tree-planting initiative, the complaints were basically validated.
Team owner Steve Ballmer already denied the allegations saying he was the one who was conned but the NBA will still commence the investigation.
Butler, whose transfer to Warriors is probably the second biggest trade story last February, is not satisfied. He thinks it was not just the Clippers who are committing salary cap violations. He did not say it directly but he believes there’s more to unearth from the trade that went down between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks, led by a swap of Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis.

“There’s always more to it,” Butler said.
“Because everybody else is always on the outside looking in, so you only know what you read. You only know what you see from socials. You don’t know what was really going on behind closed doors.”
Jimmy Butler makes a guarantee
Mavs GM Nico Harrison reasoned out that they traded Doncic for Davis because defense wins championship which they failed to do in 2024 versus Boston Celtivs. Before this, the Lakers expressed interest to have another big man.
The two teams make it look like that the trade was beneficial for both sides but Butler is not convinced. He is 100 percent sure something went on that and it was hidden to the public.

“Everybody’s gonna latch on to whatever narrative that they want to believe and whatever clickbait is put out there. But there’s always more to these stories. I don’t know, but I can guarantee you that there is more and there’s always reason behind everything. Do I know the reason? No.”
It would be great if Butler can surface whatever it is that went on. After all, he is among those who know of the inner workings in the league.
